In the older days buildings were built in such a way that used natural lighting, natural air conditioning and natural cooling and heating systems to provide comfort for the inhabitants. In this way not only the people living in those places were feeling healthier and livelier, but also less energy and resources were used in providing them and they were sustainable.
It might not be possible for many of us to change the architecture of our homes or offices, although it is best to do so, but at least we can try to use some simple techniques more often or create simple changes in the interior or exterior to make our buildings more compatible with the surrounding environment.
For example, during daytime, by opening two or more opposite windows, there will be a natural breeze created and more fresh air will flow inside and circulate around the place. This not only cleanses our place energetically by bringing in fresh prana, but can also have a general cooling effect
Using natural sunlight, instead of artificial lighting during the daytime can save a lot of resources as well. By placing the proper number of windows and controlling the amount of sunlight that enters the room using shades we can substantially reduce the number of lights during the day. Furthermore, sunlight also has a cleansing effect and by welcoming it inside the house, our home will be purified.
