Manifest Your Greatness!
We get in our own way when we want something from life. This is our rational mind coming up with all sorts of explanations as to why we can’t get it.
“That income of 500,000 per month is too high. You’re not good enough.”
“That girl is out of your league. That guy is too good for you.”
“That body type is unrealistic. You’ll never fit into those clothes.”
“Those travel plans are out of budget. You can only afford a trip to the local park this month.”
Does that sound familiar? The only way we can get the life we want is if we remove this element of fear. This is what is known as faith. It is known also as sharanagati or surrender to the supreme powers. Overcoming disbelief is a matter of gaining control over your mind. Here are the steps:
- First set your goals
- Find out what about the goal makes you scared
- Ask and answer yourself what is the worst thing that can happen
- Adjust your goal accordingly
- Meditate on your goal everyday
Most people have three types of goals – health, wealth and relationships. We’ll stick with one kind of example, say wealth, for the sake of convenience. The same mindset will work for the others as well.
Goal setting
What is my desired income level?
What’s the difference between my current income and my target?
How soon do I want to reach my target?
Suppose you want 100,000 bucks per month as income while you’re earning 40,000 now. The difference is 60,000 bucks. Find out if you need to change your line of work or increase your skillsets. Perhaps there’s a promotion available for a specific kind of talent. Sign up for a course or get the help of a mentor in order to develop that talent. Maybe you’re stuck in a dead-end job and the only way you can earn more is by moving to a different city.
Find out what about the goal makes you scared
This is the most important step. As soon as you’ve figured out the gap between your current reality and your target, your mind will automatically start working by throwing up negative reasons. Typically it goes something like this. “You can’t move to a different city! It’s too expensive. Think about your family and friends. You can’t adjust to a whole new lifestyle!” Sometimes it’s like, “You’re too old to learn new things. Nobody will take you seriously. You don’t have the time. Can you afford a new course? Where will you find a proper mentor?”
Typically, this fear of the goal stems from only one reason. And that reason is fear of failure. We are inherently afraid of appearing foolish. So most of us don’t take chances and prefer to stay stagnant. We become comfortable with our discomfort. This is our mind’s way of protecting us from unknown situations. The prehistoric human beings used to survive by venturing out into known areas during daylight. The night scared them. Some people are still scared of the dark. Truth is, they’re not afraid of the dark really, but what they unknown things they might find in the dark.
Ask and answer yourself what is the worst thing that can happen
Overcoming this fear of the darkness is easy. Simply ask yourself what’s the worst that can happen. Maybe you waste your time in looking for a course. Maybe you ask your friends too many questions and they get irritated with you. If that’s the case, then they probably aren’t very good friends anyway! Maybe you’re afraid of having to learn how to cook on your own when you move to a higher paying city. Ask yourself honestly what is the worst thing that can happen. For those who know Arhatic Yoga, recite the soul affirmation 3 times before you ask your mind about your fears. Your mind is an instrument and it will respond accordingly.
Sometimes, however, this fear can be very subtle and subconscious. Maybe we’re afraid of paying higher amounts of income tax. Maybe we’re afraid that opportunistic people will start hanging around us asking for favours or money.
Once you’ve answered the “what if” scenarios, your mind will be at rest. Sure, if the worst case is having to pay higher taxes, with your increased income you can afford a good accountant. You can also hire a good bodyguard to protect you! The positive possibilities are limitless. For every realistic problem, there is a realistic solution.
Adjust your goal accordingly
After figuring out where you stand, make the necessary changes. This doesn’t mean you back away from the goal. It simply means to break it up into realistic phases. If your target is a monthly income of 100,000 and you’re earning 40,000 right now, then you have to increase it by 10,000 every month and in six months you’ve done it.
The trick is to give your mind a believable goal within a specific timeline.
Where most people go wrong is to set a goal that’s so far away, their mind gives up long before they invest any energy in it. Sure it’s possible to become a millionaire – you have to invest, tithe and save properly and stick to your budget strictly. Same thing for diets and relationships. You can’t get six packs overnight. Prepare a meal plan and work out for an hour every day and in 2 months you’ll start seeing results. As MCKS said, “Take the first step. Then you take the second step. Then the third step and so on.” Adjusting your goal realistically based on your progress is critical.
Meditate on your goal everyday
Write down your goals and place it on your wall where you can see it clearly. Create a vision board. Maintain a diary. Spend 5 minutes every day after waking up or before going to bed in just reading the goal. Use the power of your subconscious mind to attain your targets. Cut out distractions at this time. Don’t have too many goals, otherwise your mind will become scattered.
Remember that life is cyclical, so sometimes there will be ups and downs. Therefore it’s important to stay mentally strong and focused. Losing sight of the final target will be very disastrous. Most people give up very close to the finish line. It’s important to power through and remain constant in your effort. Meditation on Twin Hearts has a calming effect. You can see things clearly and start removing obstacles as your awareness grows. MCKS made it easy for those who know Arhatic Yoga. Just be still, then be aware, and then meditate everyday.
“You must not lose courage. Do not be scared. Formulate a good strategy!”
