The Science Behind Setting Goals

According to Grand Master Choa Kok Sui, we need to have goals in 4 areas of our life.

“A person with purpose should have a financial target, a relationship target, a self-development target, and a spiritual target.” Grand Master Choa Kok Sui

Why has Grand Master Choa Kok Sui focused on these 4 goals?!

The answer may lie on the understanding of our human energetic anatomy. If you look at the human system, you realize we are much more than simply a physical body – we also have an emotional, a mental and a spiritual body. Each of these bodies needs food to survive.

Food for our physical body is the physical food that we consume every day. If we deprive the body from a healthy diet, the physical body becomes malnourished. If we continue the deprivation, then it becomes weaker and eventually dies. In order to provide the physical body with clean healthy food, we need money! That is the reason why one of the most important and basic goals in life is our financial goal.

Same goes with our higher bodies. Depriving any of our vehicles from its appropriate food will cause that body to get gets weaker and weaker, resulting in the appearance of various ailments. Therefore it is important to focus on the needs of all the vehicles simultaneously. If any one of the bodies suffer, we will suffer. Happiness can be achieved when we have all our needs taken care of.

We are designed to love and to be loved…

The proper food for our emotional body is wholesome positive emotions, among which love is of great importance. Without love, the emotional body will suffer. We are designed to love and to be loved. Therefore to provide the emotional body with love, we need to have harmonious relationships. That is why the second area in life we need to focus on is our relationship.

The same analogy goes for our mental body. Mental body is the medium of thoughts. It drives on information. Therefore the proper food for mental body is learning. Not using the mental body and the brain will lead to various ailments. It can have very unassuming manifestations, such as absenteeism from work, and then more obvious indications such as forgetfulness, lack of logic and in extreme cases, Alzheimer’s disease. That is why when the body is aging, it is recommended to keep learning new skills to keep the mind sharp and flexible.

Therefore the third important goal as suggested by GMCKS is self development including learning new skills. This is to provide the mental body with information and training.

The last body which is often taken for granted is our spiritual body, also known as the causal body. The food for the spiritual body is spiritual energy. When this body is deprived of spiritual energy, it causes emptiness, lack of purpose and depression. Often when people ask “Who am I” or “What am I doing with my life”, we can understand that it is this body which is in need of nourishment.

The way to bring down large doses of spiritual energy is through meditation, character building and service to humanity. When the person becomes an instrument of the Divine, their spiritual cord becomes thicker and stronger, and therefore they can bring down greater amounts of spiritual energy. This will keep our spiritual body healthy and strong. It has an impact on all the other bodies as well, and has a rejuvenating effect on the entire system.

If any of the bodies are weak, they will have one or more aspects badly affected, which will lead to suffering. When all the bodies are healthy and nourished with their proper food, we can achieve true happiness. Therefore, we can set weekly, monthly, annual and 5-year targets for our finances, relationships, self-development and spirituality for a happy and balanced life.
