The Mantra of Compassion and Mercy
It is the mantra of compassion and mercy.
According to Buddhist history, the mantra originated from Buddha Quan Yin.
It was lost for many centuries and was revived and popularized by Buddha Padmasambhava when he traveled from India to Tibet.
Legends state that he used this mantra to transmute the evil demons and malevolent nature spirits and converted them into protectors of dharma. This implies that the mantra has powerful transmutative properties.
It is a powerful protection against negativity.
OM Mani Padme Hum is often inscribed in stones and flags. People place these flags and stones in and around their homes to protect themselves from negativity.
The rate of vibration of the mantra is so high, it has a purifying effect on the air molecules itself.
When this purified and charged air comes in contact with sentient beings, it has a soothing and calming effect on them, thus releasing them of their suffering.
The good karma of this comes back to you since you’ve placed the stones and flags around your home. And as we know, the most effective way to neutralize negative karma is by using the law of compassion and mercy. Therefore Om Mani Padme Hum becomes one of the most important tools in your energy arsenal to defend you against negativity.
It contains secrets to spiritual empowerment.
OM is composed of three letters – A, U, M. It symbolizes impure body, speech and mind. By working on our thoughts, words and actions, we can purify ourselves to reach the pure, exalted body, speech and mind of a Buddha.
Mani means jewel. Just as a jewel removes poverty, the mantra remove suffering. What does it remove? The obstacles in our thoughts, words and actions. It purifies our inner light, compassion and the will to do good.
Padme means Lotus. It symbolizes wisdom. Just as a lotus grows in mud but isn’t affected by the faults of the mud, wisdom puts us in a state of non-contradiction.
Hum indicates indivisibility. Purity can be achieved by an indivisible unity of method and wisdom. This is how the pure, exalted body, speech and mind of a Buddha can be attained.
According to MCKS, “Om is the divine sound. Repeating the mantra Om elevates the consciousness. The mental body, emotional body, and energy body become brighter, and their rate of frequency increases. Mani means jewel. Padme means lotus flower. Hum is a Tibetan affirmation like “So Be It” or “Amen”.”
The crown chakra must be activated in order to achieve illumination or to experience one’s Buddha Nature. This is the meaning of Padme – the Golden Lotus Flower on the crown.
The mantra fulfils wishes.
MCKS says, “If negative thoughts come to you over and over again, repeat a Mantra and focus on the Mantra, rather than on the negativity coming toward you. When you concentrate on the Mantra, you will not wallow in negative thoughts and emotions.” This gives you the ability to focus on attaining your targets.
Chanting the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum cleanses and purifies the mental body, emotional body, energy body and the physical body. This gives you the clarity you need as to how you’ll achieve your targets.
The long-term effect is purifying the person of different weaknesses such as the Ajna chakra of spiritual pride and the Throat chakra of pride and delusion, self-dishonesty, dishonesty to others, prejudice, superstitious beliefs and misconceptions. It also cleanses the Solar plexus chakra of Irritation, anger, violence, jealousy and enviousness. The Sex chakra is cleansed of excessive passion or sexual desire and the Basic chakra of greed. This effectively means you can see things the way they are without anything clouding your judgment, and so you are able to take the proper decisions towards materializing your wishes.
Since all your chakras are now squeaky clean, you have more soul energy flowing to you which in turn Increases intelligence and the ability to retain what has been learned and has a soothing, healing effect.
The repetition of this mantra results in the bringing down of blessings and divine energy from the Buddha of Mercy and Compassion to the person reciting it for all the reasons cited above. Energetically, the divine energy from Buddha Avalokiteshvara enters into the crown, then to the body, and radiates outward. The person reciting it and other people and sentient beings around him will experience calmness and inner peace.

Hi
Is it mandatory that we have to recite om mani padme hum 1000 times a day to get the mentioned benifts.or the less counts are ok-
Atma Namaste. It is said that one can chant the mantra just once but with full devotion, concentration and awareness to get the full benefits. But most of humanity doesn’t have that capacity, hence chanting at least 108 times regularly is recommended. Some groups of people chant 1008 times.

Thank you for the information above. How many times a day should it be chanted (108 times each session)? Is listening to it the same as chanting it? Thank you.
