The 5 Main Inner Obstacles that Keep You from Your Full Potential

The-5-Main-Inner-Obstacles-that-Keep-You-from-Your-Full-Potential

You are Destined to be Successful!

Master Choa Kok Sui

The biggest “thing” that often holds us back from being happy, successful and confident, simply and sadly is our own self!

Most of the times we are the ones who limit ourselves from moving forward, being wild and free, and from following our dreams and to reach our full potential. We constantly limit our own potential by telling ourselves I am not good enough, or I don’t have what it takes! Meaning to say we are the main reason behind our own failure and we are in fact the one who often makes us unhappy!

Fear, doubt, insecurity and looking for approval are some of many inner obstacles that hold us back from reaching our full potential.

We have the power and ability to fly, to flourish, to be happy and reach our dreams; but this only happens once we get rid of the thoughts that are pulling us back. In other words, to be contented and happy, more than what we need to add to our life, we need to subtract from it; and all these inner obstacles are part of it.

“You are your own limitation. If you think it cannot be done, it cannot be done. If you think it can be done, it can be done.”

Master Choa Kok Sui

We always have a choice, to embrace life or to hide from it; to enjoy life or to disgust it. Life would become so much easier and happier if we could just stop complicating it and let go of self-limiting thoughts and behaviors.

Let’s take a look at some of these thoughts that are constantly keeping us back:

Full Potential 1

Looking for Others’ Approval

We are the best judge for our own life, actions and behaviors. We don’t need the approval of others to know what we are doing is right or wrong.

If we always worry about what other people think and say about us, we will never live our life to the fullest.

Doing what other people expect, might make them like us temporarily, but will never make us happy… It will never give us the passion and drive to fly and reach our full potential; and eventually we get disappointed or feel down for not pursuing our dreams. We need to have courage to follow what we think is right; to follow what we are passionate about.

“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other opinions drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Doubt, Fear and Insecurity

One of the major inner obstacles is doubt!

We need to have courage to risk, to start and to win over the challenges of life.

The feeling of insecurity, fear and doubt doesn’t let us think clearly and objectively. Such negative emotions cloud our perception and often lead to taking wrong decisions – decisions that are originated from weakness and insecurity.

Sometimes when we see a big challenge in front of us, we tend to freeze. We don’t fight, we don’t persevere and we run away. Sometimes when we are offered a big opportunity to excel and to grow, we doubt; and the opportunity slips out of our hands.

It is ok to be afraid, to doubt and analyze the risks, but if our objective mind says it is worth trying, we need courage to win over the fear. We also need courage to stop!

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”

Muhammad Ali

Holding on to the Past

I wish I hadn’t … I should have … I could have …

These words just hold us back! The past is the past… We can’t change it anyway, so it’s better not to think about it obsessively.

Often we can’t move forward to manifest our greatness and reach our full potential, because we have strong ties to the past. We regret the things we haven’t done, the chances we didn’t take and our focus is on the mistakes we have made. Such negative thinking sucks our energy and leaves no fuel for us to go forward. It also brings so much dissatisfaction, grief and resentment.

Excessive thinking about the past, jut pulls us backward.

Let’s not forget that everybody makes mistake; mistakes are part of life. It’s better to learn the lesson and let go…

“Don’t dwell on what went wrong. Instead, focus on what to do next. Spend your energies on moving forward toward finding the answer.”

Pessimism

Pessimism makes us feel depressed. Depression brings down our energy level and reduces our productivity. Worry is a manifestation of pessimism which depletes our energy and even clouds our mind.

“Regulate your mind. Do not worry excessively about the future. If you have done everything that has to be done, the future will take care of itself.”

Master Choa Kok Sui

Over-criticism also generates negative thoughts and feelings. Keep your energy high and positive. Every thought is energy; every feeling is energy, and therefore it can affect us either positively or negatively.

Positive thinking and happiness can charge us with tremendous amount of positive energy to succeed and reach our full potential. Let’s make a conscious effort to change our thinking pattern from over-worrying, excessive criticism and pessimism to positive thinking.

Low Self-Confidence

We need to believe in ourselves in order to grow and shine. If we don’t think we deserve, how can we expect other people to believe in us?

Confidence is not really dependent on the look, position and family, although they can have effects on it; it is rather connected with what we think of ourselves. It is related to our self-image.

There are many people out there who without education, family background and wealth, became highly successful, just because they believed in themselves. They believed they deserve to be successful, happy and prosperous, just like any one of us! We need to believe in ourselves too.

“Confidence has nothing to do with what you look like. If you obsess over that, you’ll end up being disappointed in yourself all the time. Instead, high self-esteem comes from how you feel in any moment. So walk into a room acting like you’re in charge, and spend your energy on making the people around you happy.”

Marian Seldes

And to let go of all the above, we can make use of tons of techniques available today. Affirmation, visualization and meditation are some of them.

Pranic Psychotherapy is another! Pranic Psychotherapy can be applied by us or by other people and can remove these thoughts, which some might be the result of several years of negativity, in a short period of time.

But whatever technique we use, the bottom line is to clear these inner obstacles and boost our self-confidence.

“Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.”

Mary Kay Ash
